James Island / Kunta Kinteh Island is a historical tour that will teach you about the facts and myths of slavery from the 12th and 13th century.

First we will drive to the Banjul-Barra ferry cruising point, cruise with the ferry to the north bank.

Then we will board in an open jeep then drive to the village of Juffureh and Albreda, the home of the famous Mandinka warrior “Kunta Kinteh”.

The route involves a two way excursion:

  1. By land: Here is an exciting experience to the north side of the Gambia that will give you the opportunity to interact with the locals, market vendors and school children along the way. The experience serves as a strong feeling and a touching taste of the rural Gambia.

  2. By boat: Experience the beautiful nature of the Gambia and it’s surroundings. Along the way, you will spot monkeys, the different species of birds, enjoy the direct sunbath and the green vegetation. We might even have the chance the spot dolphins!
