This is a two-day and one-night excursion that will take you inland to experience the real and typical Gambian atmosphere. The route is a two-way excursion: either cross with the ferry from Banjul to Barra or drive through the Trans-Gambia highway.
Day 1:
Pick up time from your respective hotels is 6:00 am. We will either cruise with the ferry from Banjul to Barra or drive through the Trans-Gambia highway. Both ways will reach us to our destinations.
During the drive, we will bypass tribal villages where we shall stop to learn, interact and see their way of living in a typical Gambian style. Then proceed to the Wassu Stone Circle (the stone circle is believed to be an ancient burial site for kings, queens, close relatives of the royal families, and warriors). We will also briefly visit the museum where you will be educated on how the stone circles came about.
Our next stop will take us to Kuntaur where we will have our lunch break and relax for 30 minutes. Later, we will have a two-hour boat ride in the River Gambia National Park to spot hippos, chimpanzees, crocodiles, monkeys, and the different species of Senegambian birds. Then, we will drive to Bao Bolong where we shall pass the night.
Day 2:
We shall be served breakfast and then depart the lodge by 8:00. We will see the governor’s residence, underground tunnel, the freedom tree, and the slave market. We will then drive back to Barra for lunch and join the ferry to drive back to your respective hotels.
